Chess 9 is a modification of the bitmapped version of Monaco for use in writing down chess records. It is monospaced in order to be more useable in columns.
This is what Chess offers:
-monospacing for table formatting
-special chess characters
piece/ symbol black(option)
key | white(shift option)
------------|--------|---|-------------------
|
pawn (p) | π ∏
bishop (b) | ∫ ı
knight (h) | ˙ Ó
rook (r) | ® ‰
queen (q) | œ Œ
king (k) | ˚
I apologize if it isn't quite what is necessary, but with only a 9-point monospaced bitmap to work with...
Well, at any rate, if it does what you need, use it. It's $5.00US shareware. I wouldn't charge for something like this except for the paradoxical reason that I can't afford Fontographer. If I get enough for this, there's a good possibility that you'll see it as a Truetype font, and if I can it may just be free.
(By the way, I started with Monaco, but I did pull a few ideas from Andrew Welch's ProFont. Just mentioning that in order to set straight any potential copyright problem.)
